OUR SPORTING LIFE: AN EXHIBITION ABOUT LOCAL SPORTING HEROES

An exhibition celebrating local sports clubs and heroes. Many sporting stars have started their careers in the boroughs of Ealing and Hounslow, including tennis champion Fred Perry, footballer Peter Crouch, cricketer Mike Brearley and Olympic athlete Lillian Board. Younger Years
This is one of a series of exhibitions taking place across the UK to provide a unique insight into how sport has shaped the country, its communities and people. (Created by the MLA and the Sports Heritage Network)

ILLUSTRATED CULTURAL LECTURES

Illustrated lectures on a wide range of subjects related to decorative arts plus tours to some of the most interesting venues in the UK from arts and crafts to stately homes; major art collections to a medieval castles followed by fish and chips on the beach. Overseas visits have included in the past St Petersburgh; Syria; Dracula’s Transilvania; Turkey via Euphasis, Troy and WW1; India and Nepal; the underworld of Sicily from the Greeks to the Mafia; Assisi to Florence; a porcelain tour of Germany ... that is just a few of many visits. Various social activities and access to spin-offs from the society. A very, very social group of members.
