Alison Baldwin



Alison Baldwin was awarded an MMus in Early Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, studying recorder with Pamela Thorby and viol da gamba with Alison McGillivray.

Previous to this Alison studied at Royal Holloway, University of London, where she was an instrumental scholar and was awarded a first class BA Honours for her degree in music and German. During this degree she was also twice awarded the Driver Prize for Outstanding Performance. As part of these undergraduate studies Alison spent a year at the Vienna Conservatoire, studying recorder with Michael Posch.

Alison has also studied at the University of East Anglia, where she achieved a distinction in her MMus and was awarded the Dorothea Hare Memorial Prize for outstanding performance. A previous winner of the Norfolk Young Musician competition and semi-finalist in the National Audi Junior Musician competition, Alison holds her ARCM diploma on recorder and LTCL on both recorder and ’cello.

Alison is now a freelance player and teacher in London and a founder member of the duo Con Licenza and the contemporary ensemble Diversitá! Most recently she has given concerto performances at St John’s, Smith Square, London and Wuppertal Konzerthaus, Germany, as well as solo recitals at the International Early Music Exhibition, Blackheath Concert Halls, St. James’s Piccadilly, Totnes Music Society and the London Handel House.
