RICHARD PAIN studied the piano under Michael Bell at Keele University. He gave two concerts in his final year, one of them the Rachmaninov Second Piano Concerto and the other a solo recital, and graduated in 1998 with a degree in Mathematics and Music. He accompanied the Keele Bach Choir for 2 years, and received the Bach Choir scholarship.
After graduating, Richard went on tour with the university orchestra to Prague, where he performed the Rachmaninov Concerto twice to full houses, one performance being given in the Rudolphinum, the home of the Czech Philharmonic orchestra.
Richard now works as an internet developer for a music company, but has been finding time to play piano in a big band which performs all over the country.
Richard has been a member of the Ealing Symphony Orchestra for four years. His is a familiar face at the front of the second violins, and increasingly so as a soloist on his principal instrument; February’s concert will be his second concerto appearance with the orchestra.
