Meherban Gillet


Meherban Gillett is a student on the Jazz Specialist Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he is studying with Thomas Martin. Meherban’s previous professors include Alexander Boyarsky and Maestro Franco Petracchi. He studied at the Purcell School, Chetham’s and Geneva Conservatoire (admitted aged thirteen as an undergraduate).

Meherban’s competition successes at the Ida Carroll 2002 (1st and Scholar 2003), the Chetham’s Concerto Competition 2003 (Winner), the LSO Scholarship Competition 2002 (semi-finalist), and the Royal Overseas League Competition (finalist 2003 and 2004) have led to appearances around the country and abroad including the Bridgewater Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Wigmore Hall and the Victoria Hall Geneva, and at international festivals in France, Spain and Italy. Recent projects have included the performance of Brahms’s Double Concerto. He also has a particular interest in choral works, having played in numerous performances of Bach’s St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion, Magnificat and Mass in B minor, and the Requiems of Fauré and Mozart.
