Yshani Perinpanayagam began formal piano lessons at the age of four with Vladislava Bajic. At thirteen, she gained entry to the junior department of the Royal College of Music, and during her studies she won both the Angela Bull and Teresa Careño memorial Prizes.
Yshani went on to continue her studies full time at the RCM as a scholar under John Barstow, and in 2005 she was a finalist in the concerto competition. The same academic year, she auditioned successfully for an ERASMUS exchange to the Prague Academy and studied with Peter Toperczer.
As a soloist, Yshani has performed at venues including St. Paul’s Cathedral, Bolivar Hall, St. Paul’s Covent Garden and the Victoria and Albert Museum, and her solo performance at the Wigmore Hall was broadcast as part of Channel 4’s Derren Brown series. She also performs regularly as a chamber musician at venues including St. Martin in the Fields and The Robin Howard Dance Theatre with ensembles including Sounds Positive and Vision.
As an orchestral pianist, Yshani performed in a live BBC Radio 3 broadcast from LSO St Luke’s as part of the BBC Judith Weir festival, and she is orchestral pianist for the NJO of the Netherlands, performing with them at venues including the Amsterdam Concertgebouw under conductors including George Benjamin and John Adams.
She began her studies on the Masters programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Caroline Palmer in 2006, and continues this year with Andrew West.
