BEETHOVEN: Missa Solemnis
Sinfonia Britannica, conducted by Jonathan Williams
The Missa Solemnis in D Major, Op. 123 is a solemn mass composed by Ludwig van Beethoven from 1819 to 1823, around the same time as his Ninth Symphony. It is considered one of the composer’s supreme achievements and one of the most significant Mass settings of the period. The challenging nature of this dramatic work – for orchestra, choir and soloists – means that it can be less frequently performed than other works. Enjoy this rare opportunity to experience a true masterpiece.
